Adult Cooking Classes are held periodically throughout the year on Monday evenings from 5.30-8pm; Food & Wine classes are once a month from 12-2pm on Saturday's; and Farmer's Market Tours are scheduled based on the market location and season. The common ingredients for all these adventures are their limited size (maximum of 12), and a focus on using seasonal and local produce and products as the foundation for delicious and healthy meals.
Cooking Classes are 'hand's on', and every session ends with a meal shared and created by all. Best of all, you don't have to worry about cleaning up! Past classes include:
Seasoning with Confidence: Curry Garlic Dip, Fresh Herb Salad w/White Vinaigrette, Couscous w/Dried Fruit & Nuts, Sweet & Sour Roasted Root Vegetables, Lemon Herb Risotto Cake
Mezes & Tapas: Cheese & Spinach Roulade Bruschetta, Artichoke Stuffed New Potatoes, Spicy Koftas (Lamb Balls), Chicken & Lemon Grass Satay, Tahani & Chilli Palmiers, Sweet Palmiers
Cooking for One or Two: Sugar Cane Prawns, Teriyaki Glazed Cornish Hens, Squash Stuffed w/Wild Rice, Banana & Chocolate Souffles
Food & Wine Classes Generally, wine tasting focuses on the wine and you receive suggestions on what foods might pair well with what you’re drinking. Or, if you fork out big bucks for a wine maker’s dinner, you spend hours on a meal with complicated dishes you’re not likely prepare at home, quaffing wines selected to match each individual course – an expense reserved for very special occasions.
We’ve designed a wonderful alternative! In these classes, the food will be sophisticated but unpretentious, and we provide the recipes and instructions for preparing it at home. And, we demystify the wine pairing process by letting you sample and compare a variety of wines to see which you prefer with each dish.
Best of all, Karla’s menu is prepared just for you, with wines selected to match, leaving you free to taste and enjoy!
Our February Food & Wine Class...Spring Brunch Fare: Camembert Ice Cream on Parmesan Toast, Prosciutto Wrapped Dates Stuffed w/Blue Cheese, Skewered Rosemary Shrimp w/Mint Pesto, Chicken Breasts Stuffed w/Artichokes, Lemon & Goat Cheese, Tangerine Granita w/Vanilla Bean Cream. Matched with Gloria Ferrer Blanc De Noir Sparkling Wine, Hook and Ladder Rose, La Crema Chardonnay, and Jackson Triggs Ice Wine.
Classes run $45-65 per person and are all inclusive.
